We once again invite you to virtually walk or run with us, For Lindsay!
Our virtual race will occur October 8, 2022, and allows for participants across the US to join in, wherever they are. Walk, run, or even run errands any time that weekend - it all counts! Post a picture and tag #forlindsay to show your support.
Lindsay was a hero, a warrior in every sense of the word. She gracefully faced uncertainty, head on, every single day. In these ever-changing times, being reminded of Lindsay's perseverance inspires us to find new ways to honor her, and we are proud to give back in her name.
Proceeds will benefit Pink Ribbon Girls, going directly toward meals for metastatic breast cancer families in Central OH. In the last 5 years, we have raised $85k and sponsored 36 families. We hope that you will join us!
In 2009, Lindsay found a lump during a routine breast exam. She was 27 years old. Initially, she was told it was a benign lump and it would continue to be monitored. After feeling uneasy about her initial diagnosis, Lindsay listened to her body and went for a second opinion in 2010. A few days later, at age 28, she was told, "You have breast cancer." She went through chemo, radiation and a double mastectomy with her husband and an army of supporters by her side; and she was finally ready and able to continue on with her life. Or so she thought. Unfortunately, life had other plans, and in November 2011, Lindsay was diagnosed with stage iv metastatic breast cancer. Metastatic breast cancer has no cure, and Lindsay knew she would be on treatment indefinitely. She made it her mission to spread awareness about the importance of listening to your body and seeking out second opinions. She spoke at numerous events and counseled other young women facing a breast cancer diagnosis. She held events to raise money for metastatic research. She faced every day with courage, grace, and strength.
In 2016, after a 5.5 year fight, Lindsay gained her wings. Her legacy continues, and Lindsay lives on in the hearts and minds of those who knew her. Family and friends are now her voice - sharing her story and spreading awareness, educating as many people as possible about the importance of being your own advocate.
"Listen to your body. If something doesn't seem right, it probably isn't. Keep asking questions until you're comfortable with the answers." - Lindsay Giannobile
In hospice, Lindsay's wish was to have a benefit each year to honor her memory and continue the fight by giving back to an amazing organization that gave her so much hope and support during her battle. As a wife and mother during the time of her illness, Lindsay utilized the amazing support of the Pink Ribbon Girls, a non-profit organization whose mission is to provide healthy meals, housecleaning, rides to treatment, and peer support to individuals battling breast cancer.
Lindsay had a unique way of bringing people together and she continues to do just that in the name of other cancer affected families. The 5 Benefits raised a combined $85k, which was given directly to Pink Ribbon Girls! This contribution was specifically tagged for meals for metastatic breast cancer patients in Central Ohio. So far, these events have sponsored 36+ families through the course of treatment, and we are excited to do more!
